Abstract: Algorithmic Personalization and its Apparent Anthropocentrism as a Philosophical and Ethical Problem
The article deals with the definition and the scope of the so called “algorithmic governmentality”. Specifically, it examines how the core of this system lies in the discovery of correlations among data, which are interpreted in order to influence users’ lives. Furthermore, it reads the problem of the filter bubble in light of this governmentality, highlighting how the level of content personalization is falsely anthropocentric. In conclusion, it shows the necessity of a strong “algorethics”.
