Abstract
In this essay Becchi deals with Hans Jonas’ thought about bioethics. Even
though the jewish philosopher speaks of a “right to a dignified death”, he is not
pro-euthanasia.
The “right to die” he speaks about is the right to become aware of one’s own
imminent death. In any case, if the patient is still conscious, he is always free to
refuse a survival therapy that gives him a not-dignified-life.
Then Jonas distinguish between negative eugenics and positive eugenics,
considering lawful the first one and unlawful the second one.
